TBT: UC Irvine Take Back the Night 2012
Throwback Thursday to 3 years ago!
On April 18 of 2012, Get Safe and Embrace hosted a table at UC Irvine’s annual Take Back the Night event. Following some very brave speakers and a moving candlelit march to raise awareness about sexual violence, attendees meandered through stations hosted by local organizations that addresses various aspects of sexual violence, including recovery.
Embrace, a lifestyle brand that grew out of the Get Safe Breaking Barriers program that works with survivors of sexual and physical assault, brought its message of living “free from fear” and being aware of your inner-self. The Embrace art piece entitled “Let Go” gave us an inspired idea… and we had TBTN attendees participate in a video collage to answer this simple question: “What do you ‘Embrace’ most in YOUR life?”
Special thanks to all our participants, and UC Irvine CARE for

April is Autism Awareness Month.
Did you know that 1 in 68 people will be diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and we will all encounter a colleague, peer or supervisor who has an ASD. GET SAFE’s autism awareness trainings have heightened “autism awareness” by providing the community with information and tools needed to recognize and understand certain behaviors of persons with ASDs.
